FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Helen L. Hardy, Long-Time California Resident and Philanthropic Supporter, Remembered; Memorial Scholarship Fund Announced
BORON, CALIFORNIA, MAY 15, 2025/WOSNEWSWIRE/ – Helen Louise Hardy, a cherished member of the Boron community and a dedicated supporter of educational opportunities, passed away on April 13, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born in Water Valley, Mississippi, Ms. Hardy migrated to Chicago, Illinois, in pursuit of greater opportunities before eventually making California her home for 46 years. For 17 of those years, she was a resident of Boron.
Ms. Hardy was the beloved mother of Terry Hardy, the founder of the World of Soul® Motorcycle Community and the Ride for CHANGE Ride for HOPE™ Foundation. Throughout her life, she was a passionate investor and advocate for the Foundation's mission to empower students to achieve their higher education goals by helping them get to and through college.
Her early life in the South was defined by agricultural labor—picking cotton and strawberries—and limited opportunities. As a member of the last generation of the Great Migration, she broke this cycle. Despite the challenges of single motherhood, she attended Kennedy-King College, paving the way for her son to have a more promising beginning.
In lasting tribute to her commitment to facilitating access to education and her generous spirit, the Helen L. Hardy Memorial Scholarship Fund is being established. The primary intent of this fund will be to support student persistence, ensuring that aspiring scholars have the resources they need to complete their studies.
Further details regarding the Helen L. Hardy Memorial Scholarship Fund and ways to contribute will be announced in the coming weeks.
